One father-son duo united with another, in turn reuniting a pair of former Bobcat football teammates in the process to create a powerhouse – the Montana Build Group.
The innovative team is a successful merging of Shane Collins Construction and Trident Construction to create a formidable force in high-end residential and commercial construction.
Shane Collins Construction, founded by Shane Collins and his son Grant, and Trident Construction, founded by Josh Konkol and his son Brayden not only sets new standards for exceptional quality and craftsmanship, client satisfaction, and commitment to the community. It also helps each family extend their building legacies and reunites Grant and Brayden, the first two Bobcats to wear Montana State’s now-vaunted No. 41 jersey for the Bobcat football team.
The quartet are fifth-generation Montanans that bring more than 40 years of combined building experience. The Montana Build Group has a goal of guiding every project they undertake from start to finish.
The Montana Build Group is powered by athletes & engineers. The skills learned from the game of football helps drive every project forward and the high-level engineering education acquired at Montana State bumps the aura of every project to an elite level.
From the ability to communicate to a dedication to teamwork to the attention to detail learned both on the gridiron and in the building world, nobody has more commitment to doing the job right, every time, as the Montana Build Group.
Shane Collins has lived a life of accomplishment, first as one of the great athletes to ever come out of Montana. For the last 28 years, he’s maintained a reputation as one of the premier high-end residential builders in the Gallatin Valley. His unparalleled reputation as one of the premier building companies beneath the Bridgers is ‘built’ upon his commitment to “building custom, timeless homes that reflect the unique styles and aspirations of their owners.”
The former All-American football player and shot-put thrower at Arizona State turned NFL Draft pick by Washington has had sustained success in the building industry. He has maintained a commitment to building his legacy by providing clients with sound, timeless homes that can enhance the aesthetics of the site or neighborhood in which each home is built.
Using only top skilled professionals and craftsman, Shane Collins Construction earned a reputation as one of the premier building companies in Montana. From small single-family homes to custom cabin retreats to commercial projects, Shane has proven he can tackle any challenge.
With over 30 years of experience working with some of the largest contractors in the Northwest, Josh Konkol, founder of Trident Construction, adds a wealth of knowledge and diverse experience to the partnership. Josh’s expertise in managing complex projects while focusing on integrity and quality complements the high standards set forth by Shane Collins, creating a formidable alliance in the construction industry. Konkol has worked in and around the Gallatin Valley for most of his life and has a fierce love for his home.

Montana Build Group has a foundational philosophy to leverage the excellence and hard work earned as athletes and engineers in the Gallatin Valley. That is directly reflected in Grant Collins and Brayden Konkol. The former All-Big Sky Conference teammates for Jeff Choate’s Bobcats are also the first two Bobcats to be honored by wearing Montana State’s No. 41, a legacy number that is a nod to the fact that Montana was the 41st state admitted into America while paying homage to the 1941 Montana State team that lost many of its members in World War II. Grant is proud to boast three straight wins over the arch rivals from Montana to end his career while Brayden went 4-0 against the Grizzlies in his standout Bobcat career. Each played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for a program that is now a national championship contender.

Collins was a star at Bozeman High who elected to stay in his hometown. Despite battling injuries throughout his high school and college career, Collins was a four-year starter for the Bobcats while also earning a mechanical engineering degree. After graduating, he spent time living in Massachusetts and Texas working as a systems engineer for Raytheon before the Gallatin Valley called him home.

The work ethic that helped Konkol go from Class A standout at Belgrade High to first-team All-Big Sky Conference selection and one of the hardest hitting safeties in the FCS has carried over into his professional life. Whether he worked as a trim carpenter or with his father at Trident mastering the craft of contracting, Konkol combines his athletic discipline with technical expertise that enhances Montana Build Group’s mission.

The foursome’s shared vision is fueled by pride in their Montana roots and a commitment to serving their community.
